Tampa Bay Lightning

I've been a sports fanatic since the 1960's, I have several personal heroes, idols, i.e. Sandy Koufax, Tom Seaver, Magic Johnson, Kareem Roger Staubach and Joe Namath and loved the teams they played for and still do. I came to NHL Hockey very late in life knowing zip of its past or the game itself. Since becoming a Hockey fan, I've studied past teams and players and wish the game was with me thru the ages. That said, i feel the Tampa Bay Lightning are the Ultimate Professional Sports Franchise a Model of How It's To Be Done. Their recent success 6 Eastern Conference appearances in 8 seasons with Back to Back Stanley Cup Championships and possible Three-Peat is the result of a well run top to bottom organization. But it's more than the sport. The Lightning are the most generous company I've been associated with. I held season seats at the Fabulous Form for the Lakers, went to thousands of New York Yankees, Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers baseball games and yes they gave back to their cities and communities too, but not at the level the Lightning do. Mr. Vinik hands down is the best owner is all of sports. I know professional sports is also a business and it saddens me when beloved players are no longer part of this organization, but their replacements all have the same quality of character. I've watched, learned a lot about HNL Hockey of the past 10 seasons, yes the game is violent at times, but not to be a Homer, regarding the Bolts they retaliate more than they initiate, we don't have the Thugs some of the other teams do. I'm not sure if it's a management directive but there isn't a single player to be ashamed for, all have class and talent. I will continue to support the Lightning as an STM fan. My list of idols has grown, now to include Tampa Bay Lightning mgmt. coaches and players. GO BOLTS.
